Several citizens have shared information with Calhoun County Administration about having received text messages asking them to participate in online surveys. This type of spam text messaging (referred to sometimes as "smishing", or "SMS phishing") has become common as online threat actors attempt to gain access to the personal information of others.
These text messages are not being generated by Calhoun County. An example of these messages is below.

Links found in these messages should be considered malicious as they may correspond to forms asking for personal information or be capable of delivering viruses and other harmful content. If you receive a text like this you should report/block the sender as spam to your provider and delete the message immediately.
