About Calhoun County

In 1704, the first settlers came to Calhoun County. A region representing agricultural success and industrial progress, it wasn’t until more than 200 years later that the area officially became a county. In 2008, the County’s population of 15,000 celebrated its centennial. Its 369 square miles of land in central South Carolina marks the beginning of South Carolina’s Lowcountry.
